Faculty Resource Group Presents at TABS

By Jaime Morefield, Upper School English Teacher, FRG Member

In December, Mich Linder and I presented at the annual TABS Conference in Boston, MA.  Renne Soulis from Freedom from Chemical Dependency opened the presentation with an overview of early intervention teams and the benefits of early intervention.  She explained both in the context of the social norms approach.  Westtown School Faculty Resource Group members were there as a “living example” of this, and we continued the presentation with information about how our early intervention team at Westtown operates.  The session was dynamic and well-attended.  School representatives asked a variety of questions, ranging from the details of how FRG works at Westtown, to the driving philosophy of the group.  Many representatives seemed eager to get an early intervention team started at their school, and expressed gratitude for having the opportunity to talk through how they might go about doing it.
